May 2012 copy of Motorcycle Consumer News has an op-ed by Dave Searle titled "Brain Training". He references a study in 2009 by nueroscientist Prof. Ryuta Kawashima studying cognitive training to reverse the effects of aging. He concluded "the intense concentration necessary to successfully negotiate traffic, changing road conditions while balancing on two wheels clearly has a stimulating effect on the brain". Riding was found to improve spatial reasoning as well as memory while reducing stress levels, showing increased brain activity in the right hemisphere of the pre-frontal cortex.
Clearly a dirt bike is beneficial to the brain so ride more! |

Hmmmmm!!! Interesting study. As I found out yesterday though, sometimes the body just doesn't do what the brain wants to do. Sometimes the brain says to turn this way and the body goes the opposite direction. Taking away some to the trees would make it easier. |
