For you FBs he has a page as well.

Also anyone else think it would be a nice gesture of the club to have a cookout or something for him when he gets back? Eat some burgers, drink some beer and listen to stories and figure out why someone would ride that far. |

A 1994 BMW R1100RS. His dad added an auxiallary fuel cell to it and has been responsible for keeping it on the road. It's not the prettiest bike as it approaches 100k miles but it keeps rolling along. |

From his facebook.
I have a 1994 BMW R1100RSL (at various time dubbed the GS or Valdez) with 145k on it. I am very lucky to have a Master Mechanic (my dad, Charlie) who works cheap. He just finished putting new (used) heads on the bike and getting the bike back together. He has rebuilt the tranny, final drive, hall sensor, installed a fuel cell, and countless other updates and fixes. |

The rear frame broke during the most recent test ride but was "successfully" welded back on during the ride. His mechanic Dad thoughtfully inspected the job and then drew a set of plans for John to take with just in case for the next frame repair as it didn't look up to Dad's standards. Charlie is thorough! |

John did great during the first leg, ending it in 6th place overall. He crashed on rain slick freeway heading to a motel after the check-in and broke several bones. He's expected to recover completely but is being MedJet evacuated back to Rochester. Bummer! |

He's back in Rochester and recovery is underway. Bike is also being returned. It's not over yet but it sounds like it's going okay. |
